We are excited to announce that the Green Fire Foundation's application for fiscal sponsorship from the Alchemical Nursery Project - The Quinta Essentia Program ~ has been approved! Now all we need to do is finish up some of the paperwork details and get these green fires stoked up for the coming 2011 year!

2011 goals are to:

Write comprehensive program guidelines
Seek out first endowment funds
Apply for operation grant
Scout for qualified board members
Update website
Plan & execute first fundraising event

Green Fire Foundation is honored to be able to work interdependently with the Alchemical Nursery Project in furthering both organizations missions to enable and empower sustainable community development.

Green Fire Foundation's mission is to support developing and existing EcoVillages and sustainable communities through:

PROVIDING INFRASTRUCTURE GRANTS.
PROVIDING SMALL LOANS AND GRANTS TO START-UP COTTAGE INDUSTRIES BASED IN ECOVILLAGES AND DEVELOPING SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES.
PROVIDING GRANTS FOR GROUPS AND COMMITTEES THAT FORM FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEVELOPING AND ESTABLISHING LEGAL PROTOCOLS THAT ALLOW ECOVILLAGE AND LOW-IMPACT SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT TO OBTAIN PLANNING APPROVAL BY LOCAL OR STATE/REGIONAL AGENCIES

Well it has been 9 months since we launched the Green Fire Foundation Website and set our intentions to manifest this organization. 9 months is a standard gestation cycle for humans and we are happy to announce that we have birthed a trajectory and strategy for the establishment of this foundation. We are in the process of applying for fiscal sponsorship from the Alchemical Nursery Project based in Syracuse New York. A nursery is the ideal place for new babies and we are grateful to have found a promising place that can help to nurture the establishment of an organization that will pass that nurturance on into the future.

We hope to have acceptance soon and will post our progress.

Green Fire Foundation - Connecting the Resources with the Resourceful

For the past several decades there has been a silent construction happening of a new sustainable community model which has evolved to become what is called an EcoVillage. (see side column for definition)

The Green Fire Foundation is being established to serve these EcoVillages by providing infrastructure and 'cottage industry' grants. As we transition to a sustainable global culture resources need to be directed to new community models that are built upon sustainable principles and practices. The EcoVillage model strives to not only reduce the overall carbon footprint of a community, but to raise the standard of living through 'regenerative' policies and a commitment to responsible *Earth Stewardship. The Green Fire Foundation's mission to 'Connect the Resources with the Resourceful' will be achieved through the '10% For the Planet' program that invites and challenges 'Common Good' and 'B' Corporations to pledge 10% of gross income and through generous contributions from 'subscribing' members. SeThInk Media has pledged 10% of all gross profits and as the business profit margin increases the owners intend to raise the bar even higher. Why? Owners of SeThInk Media and founders of the Green Fire Foundation passionately believe that the EcoVillage movement is creating the community model of the future and know that serious efforts must be made to channel resources to the further evolution and development. "The entire infrastructure of our planet is shifting right now and new sustainable models of living must receive top priority during this transition," states CEO Darlene Cavallaro. The founders are actively seeking 'inter-viduals' with a strong background in sustainable community development to serve on the first board of directors. Once the initial endowment fund has been established the foundation will officially incorporate as a 501(c)3. "We saw no sense in spending a ton of time and resources following standard non-profit establishment protocol before a solid board was assembled and there were resources in the bank. The foundation will grow organically as our company and other related projects grow. We are in it for the long haul." says SeThInk Media president Daniel Cavallaro. The founders say the inspiration and road map for the establishment of the foundation came from Google and the Google Foundation. Daniel explains, "We saw how they were able to channel so much capital to so many causes and we decided to use their model in developing our own plan. Our foundation is extremely focused however on 'infrastructure' grants for EcoVillages. Later we will expand into grants for small 'cottage industry' projects within our member communities."
*Earth Stewardship is a term used to describe the human responsibility to actively engage in the care and healing of planet Earth. Responsible Earth Stewardship requires humans to evolve towards sustainable living and engage in regenerative efforts to heal the damage that human activity has inflicted on the global environment and cultures. Earth Stewardship is based upon a healthy acknowledgment of our interdependence with all life and respect for future generations.
